‘CBIC should issue new posting orders of Assistant Commissioners immediately’

 

 

 

The Directorate General of Human Resource Development (DGHRD), Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has promoted 682 officers across the country to the post of Assistant Commissioners of Central Customs and Goods Tax (CGST) and Customs and Indirect Taxes vide order no. 105/2023 dated July 15, 2023. Despite the promotion of these officers they have not been issued new posting orders even after a lapse of more than two months, said Sanjay Thul, President of All India Federation of GST, Central Excise and Customs SC and ST Employees Welfare Organisation.

 

Regarding this matter, Sanjay Thul has sent a letter to Sanjay Kumar Agarwal, Chairman of CBIC requesting him to look into the issue and take immediate action. To complicate matters, there are some officers retiring without working on the promoted post of Assistant Commissioners of Central Goods and Services Tax as they have not been issued new

posting orders.

 

Also, there are four officers in Nagpur that have been promoted to Assistant Commissioners but not given new posting orders. Some officers are confused and anxiously waiting for their new postings as they would have to be shift with their families to new location, he pointed out. Apart from this, a huge delay in new posting orders could promote corruption to sensitive postings, Thul added.
