After the announcement of Assembly elections by the Election Commission of India, Model Code of Conduct (MCC) has become effective in Raipur district also. For the effective implementation of the MCC, action has been initiated against property defacement in Raipur city. Under this, the process of removing all wall writings, posters, stickers, cutouts, hoardings, banners, flags in all government offices and premises has been started. Any other form of distortion in the order issued for this purpose is being removed with the announcement of elections. Unauthorised political advertisements, wall writings/posters/stickers from all public places including railway stations, bus stands, airports, railway bridges, roadways, government buses, electric/telephone poles, municipal/local body buildings etc. , cutouts/hoardings, banners, flags etc. are being removed on the instructions of the Election Commission.

 

Similarly, all the unauthorised political advertisements displayed on private properties at various places in Raipur city are being removed by the District Administration and Municipal Corporation, subject to local law and court instructions. In the meantime, Collector and District Magistrate Dr Sarveshwar Bhure also instructed the public representatives to take back the allotted vehicles. An order has been issued in this regard. It said that the MCC has become effective in the district. Therefore, from the date of announcement of elections till the date of declaration of election results, vehicles of Central State Government Undertakings, Joint Sector Undertakings, Autonomous Institutions, District Panchayats, District Panchayats, Gram Panchayats, Nagar Panchayats, Marketing Boards, Marketing Institutions, Agricultural Produce Market Committees, in which Government money has been invested in even small amount, should not be allowed to Members of Parliament, Members of Legislative Assembly or representatives of political parties or candidates or any person connected with elections.
