THIS is the time of festivity and it was a small family function arranged in the evening. As it went on nice and nearing to an end; interestingly the focus of attention shifted from a routine chat to confidence building. The finest example of India’s successful Moon mission recently and fresh in everyone’s memory was always there to present the case well and begin with. Scientists at the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) even before the launch of Chandrayaan-3 were confident that the mission would be a grand success. ISRO could read well all that went wrong earlier in Chandrayaan-2 and deftly carried out the corrective procedures while firmly believing that core mission objectives were indeed achievable and also smartly did it. The exercise was technically challenging. The flawless touchdown of ‘Vikram’ lander on the Moon’s southface did surprise the world, which is outstanding. That was best termed by the ISRO as “From the success-based approach in Chandrayaan-2 … to a failure-based design in Chandrayaan-3…”. After the unprecedented success of this Chandrayaan-3 and having conquered the Moon; India now eyes the sun. The successful launch of ISRO’s next ambitious and fully indigenous maiden solar mission ‘Aditya-L1’ in quick succession on September 2 adds another feather to India’s cap. The spacecraft is cruising along well to hit the target and the mission is expected to throw more light on various elements relating to the Sun and its effect on space weather in real time so as to have a better understanding of the universe.

More such complex and ambitious ventures are planned in the times to follow and India is showing every promise of becoming a giant in space exploration. The pace of growth of infrastructure especially in the last nine years has been phenomenal and during the same time the country has advanced to assume the status as the fifth largest economy in the world. India leads the way in digital transformations. India’s diplomacy has touched a new high now and the astounding success of G20 under India’s Presidency has the potential to change the direction the 21st century world takes. It is widely believed that what India achieved in the last nine years now would have taken decades by traditional means. The Indian economy has showcased remarkable resilience and holds immense potential to scale a new high on all counts. Turning on to the popular game of cricket as well; few best cricketers like the Kapil Dev, MS Dhoni, Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar etc., with their out of the box ideas during the most critical hours stole the show remarkably well, scripted history, and brought laurels for India. Confidence is a huge factor in any venture that is undertaken and it is a product of the combination of “Clarity in thoughts” and “Consistency in actions”. Precisely, it is a state of mind that makes you firmly believe in your ability and strength and even an uphill task looks easy then. In contrast; a loss of confidence makes even the best mind end up with a disappointment writ large on his face. There is always an element of positivity in every failure, which is an inevitable part of life.

Failure makes us learn from our past mistakes and move forward by staying focussed on our goals rather it is the stepping stone to success. The important thing, however, is not to lose hope and retain confidence at all times as that will aid us to realise the goals with relative ease. In all the above cases; a leader at the helm plays a pivotal role to motivate the people, make them deliver the stuff, and eventually steer the organisation to attain dizzy heights. We have examples of many great leaders who lent prudence & credence and stood as role models. The best leader is one who in the process also creates more leaders for the future, to assume the mantle and sustain the show. India today in the world under the dynamic stewardship of our Prime Minister Narendra Modi is the finest example to quote here. While the world is grappling with issues and struggling to come to terms; Bharat, the holy land is shining all the way through. Sipping a cup of hot tea, a stimulant always makes the conversation lively. A deeply engrossed talk ended up on a convincing note that in a way also gave a good finishing touch to the usual traditional function. The Aarti offering to god finally filled the air with divinity and happiness. Believe you can and you're already halfway there……. Confidence triumphs!!
