Congress party has declared its second list of 53 candidates for the upcoming Chhattisgarh Legislative Assembly elections. As of now, the Congress party has declared a total of 83 candidates out of the 90 Assembly seats, leaving only seven seats yet to be decided. In a prior announcement, the party revealed the names of 30 candidates for the assembly elections. The party has shown confidence on many faces as they have been renominated while few others have been shown the door. As per the announcement made by the Congress party District Co-operative Bank Raipur Chairman, Pankaj Sharma, has been nominated to contest from the Raipur Rural seat, replacing his father and sitting MLA Satnarayan Sharma, one of the senior most Congress MLA . Similarly, Ambikapur Mayor, Ajay Tirkey, has been fielded from the Ramanujganj assembly seat in lieu of sitting MLA Brihaspat Singh.
 
Mahant Ram Sundar Das will represent the Congress party in the Raipur South Legislative Assembly, pitted against the sitting BJP MLA Brijmohan Agrawal, this is going to be an interesting contest. Former State Congress Media Chief Shailesh Nitin Trivedi has been fielded from the Baloda Bazar seat. The second list introduces 17 new candidates, including Pankaj Sharma, Dr Ajay Tirkey, Mukesh Chandrakar from Vaishali Nagar, Nirmal Kosare from Ahirwara (SC)and Tarini Chandrakar, who will make their electoral debut in the assembly polls. Surprisingly, the Congress party has decided not to field ten sitting MLAs, which includes notable names such as Satyanarayan Sharma, Chandradev Rai, and Brihaspat Singh, among others.
 
Raipur Rural MLA Satyanarayan Sharma, Bilaigarh MLA Chandradev Rai, Ramanujganj MLA Brihaspat Singh, Dharsiwas MLA Anita Sharma, Pratappur MLA Dr Premsai Singh Tekam, Jagdalpur MLA Rekhchand Jain, Manendragarh sitting MLA Dr Vinay Jaiswal, Samri MLA Chintamani Maharaj, Pali-Tanakhar sitting MLA Mohit Ram Kerketta and Lailunga MLA Chakradhar Singh Sidar have been dropped. The second list showcases a mix of candidates from various constituencies, including ST (Scheduled Tribe), SC (Scheduled Caste), and other segments, reflecting the Congress party’s effort to ensure diverse representation. It’s evident that the Congress party has carefully and strategically selected candidates who they believe can make a significant impact in the forthcoming elections.
