Men and women teams bag varsity chess titles

MEN and women teams of Shri Ramdeobaba College of Engineering and Management (SRCOEM) won titles in Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University Inter-Collegiate Chess Competition that was hosted by St Vincent Pallotti College of Engineering & Technology (SVPCET), on Wednesday.
SRCOEM men edged past SVPCET on better progressive scores. Both the teams ended with 19 points each. Yashwantrao College of Engineering finished third with 18 points. SRCOEM men’s team comprised Shreerang Bhoyar, Aryan Deogade, Yash Ingolikar, Kshitij Mudliyar, Atharva Aloni and Kunal Sharma.
SRCOEM women’s team that included Yadhnika Wakde, Tanya Pandey, Maithili Khuje, Seeya Thakare, Silvi Gupta and Yukta Agrawal were clear winners with 21 points in their kitty. SVPCET, with 19 points, took the runners-up spot. Dr Ambedkar College, Deekshabhoomi ended the campaign at third spot with 15 points.
Dr Sharad Suryawanshi, Director of Physical Education, RTMNU was chief guest of prize distribution ceremony. Dr Nitin Jangitwar, Principal, Kalode Mahavidyalaya was guest of honour.
Fr Dr Paul Chandrankunnel, Director of SVPCET; Fr James Thomas, Assistant Director; Dr SV Gole, Principal, SVPCET and Dr Ashlesha Ingole, Sports Incharge were prominently present on the occasion.

Men: SVPCET: Melrick Paul, Atharva Rakesh Bhede, Vedant Mule, Lonkar Parth, Aditya Ganvir, Vedant Gode. YCCE: Marsattiwar Yash, Waranashiwar Aryan, Paras Kosarkar, Shantanu Tarale, Chiranjeet Roy.
Women: SVPCET: Mrudul Dehankar, Anushka Ladukar, Chede Shristi, Moshika Gedam, Sanyuja Sonkuwar. Dr Ambedkar: Subhusha Agrawal, Rupali Meshram, Shriddhika Dharmelwar, Yachana Borkar, Shararu Chaudhari.
