The City Police are preparing to submit a formal request to the Union Government to block the Uniform Resource Locator (URL) "www. diamondexch.com." This website has been at the center of online gaming fraud operations orchestrated by individuals identified as Sontu, also known as Ananth Navratan Jain, and Rakesh Rajkot. The magnitude of the fraudulent activities is estimated to be in the thousands of crores of rupees. Fraudster Sontu was found to be a 40 per cent partner in www.diamondexch.com, owned by RR alias Rakesh Rajkot, who is currently hiding in the United Kingdom. D-company member Naved alis Naim also is connected with the on-line gaming fraud and he reportedly diverted money in the real estate sector in Dubai, said the official. The illicit gains were distributed among partners through the website designed to ensure quick sharing of income once investors incurred losses. This setup allowed the partners to receive their share almost immediately on their screens. The fate of blocking the www.diamondexch.com URL will ultimately rest with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, following the proposal presented by the City Police, said an official. Commissioner of Police (CP) Amitesh Kumar said that the police has significant electronic evidences against the website to prove that it was designed only to dupe the on-line game players.

A significant effort is underway to apprehend the bookies who collaborated with Sontu in this fraudulent operation. The list of bookies includes residents from Kolkata and eight bookies/partners from Gondia, all of whom were provided with necessary IDs for online betting by Sontu Jain. The investigation into this online gaming fraud case commenced when Vikrant Agrawal filed a complaint, alleging that he had been defrauded of a staggering Rs 58 crore by the gaming platform. Agrawal claimed that the gaming results had been manipulated, resulting in substantial financial losses for him.

On July 22, the police raided Sontu’s residence in Gondia, where they seized Rs 17 crore in cash, 14 kg of gold, and 294 kg of silver, with a combined worth of Rs 27 crore. On August 2, the police discovered an additional Rs 85 lakh in cash and gold valued at over Rs 4.5 crore stored in bank lockers belonging to Sontu and his family members. On October 23, police recovered 3.25 kg of gold from the house of Bunty, also known as Dinesh Maheshchandra Kothari, in Gondia. On October 20, police seized 3 kilograms of gold found in a well, and Rs 1.35 crore in cash from the house of Dr Gaurav Bagga.
