Rohan Gurbani and Janvi Kaishalwar moved up with contrasting wins over their respective rivals in the Yonex Sunrise Late Nandu Natekar Memorial Maharashtra Senior Inter District and State Badminton Championship which got under way at Divisional Sports Complex, Koradi Road, Mankapur, on Monday. The tournament is supported by MLA Vikas Thakre and is co-sponsored by WCL and MOIL. Meditirina Institute of Medical Sciences, is the medical partner for the competition organised by Nagpur District Badminton Association. On Day One, 241 matches were played with Gurbani and Kaisalwar emerging winners in the round of 128 along with several other shuttlers from the State. While city’s Gurbani had no difficulty in defeating Swaraj Nirwan 15-5, 15-5 in the men’s section, Kaishalwar had to work out hard to quell the challenge from Shruti Bhoir with a 15-13, 6-15, 15-11 verdict in women’s category.
 
In another match, Nishika Gokhe defeated Siya Bang 15-4, 15-10.
