Senior leaders and workers of Congress party paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on their birth anniversary, on Monday. Congressmen gathered at Town Hall and garlanded the statue of Mahatma Gandhi and the portrait of Lal Bahadur Shastri. Speaking on the occasion, Congress leaders said, “Gandhiji dedicated his entire life to the service of the nation with sole aim of achieving freedom and peace.” They added Mahatma Gandhi introduced the world to the power of non-violence. Gandhi’s message of non-violence cannot be extinguished and continues to resonate deeply throughout the world.
 
Congress leaders further stated that Gandhi is an ideology that can never be eliminated and the strength of Gandhi’s non-violence has been profoundly understood and embraced worldwide. Congress leaders said Mahatma Gandhi’s entire life serves as a message. Whether it was struggling for justice, protecting one’s rights, or resisting injustice, both domestically and internationally, Gandhi’s path of non-violence was embraced with humility and strength. His life exemplified living by moral values, which in itself conveys a powerful message.
 
They said the entire life of former Prime Minister, Lal Bahadur Shastri was marked by simplicity and the decisions he made in the interest of the nation are a testament to his remarkable personality. Those present on the occasion were Jagat Bahadur Singh, Kaushlya Gotia, Nanhelal Dhurve, Bhagat Ram Singh, Manoj Seth and others.
