State President of Madhya Pradesh Congress Bijli Samasya Nivaran Prakoshta, Saurabh Sharma while addressing a press conference on Wednesday accused the Electricity Department of yet another major scandal. Saurabh Sharma claimed that under the Smart City project, the Electricity Department executed a pole shifting work worth Rs 1.32 crore stretching from Adhartal to Karonda Nala Bypass.

 

In the project, all equipment and materials were required to meet specific standards and quality criteria as per regulations. But, serious variation from these standards in the project implementation. After widening the roads, the scrap that was supposed to be deposited with the Electricity Department was allegedly sold by the officials instead. Likewise, substandard and old materials were used, which indicates corruption in the project, he alleged.

 

Sharma said the Congress party would soon present evidence of other corruption cases that occurred in different areas. He said such corruption scandal has been done in entire Madhya Pradesh by the Electricity Department. Sharma said a thorough investigation must be initiated against all the corrupt officials. He said the Congress will soon lodge complaints with the Superintendent Engineer (power safety) along with Economic Offences Wing (EOW). Along with that they will also file petition a in the court.
