Contractual worker loses left palm Suspicious explosion at Central Ordnance Depot, Jabalpur

 

 

 

In a suspicious explosion at Central Ordnance Depot (COD) Jabalpur, a contract worker lost his left palm near Ammunition Sub Depot (ASD), on Tuesday morning. The injured has been identified as Abhinav Madhu Lal Vishwakarma, a resident of Mastana Chowk in Ranjhi and working as contractual worker at COD Jabalpur. According to the spokesman of Madhya Bharat Area, contractual employees are appointed for cleanliness and other maintenance works in COD Jabalpur. At around 12.45 pm on Tuesday, contractual employee Abhinav Vishwakarma reached at specified place for taking lunch where a loud noise of explosion occurred.

 

Hearing the explosion, his co-worker reached the spot and found Abhinav badly injured due to explosion. Learning about the incident, officers and security personnel concerned reached the spot and rushed the injured to Military Hospital where he was given primary treatment and referred at Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose Medical College and Hospital. In the explosion, Abhinav lost his left palm and sustained multiple pallets injuries on his right hand and face.

Senior officers of COD Jabalpur reached the spot for further investigation and Madhya Bharat Area has constituted an inquiry committee to ascertain reason behind the explosion. According to the sources, the explosion took place near Ammunition Sub Depot where disposal of discarded ammunitions is carried out. Senior officers of Madhya Bharat Area are monitoring the situation and assured the family members of injured Abhinav Vishwakarma for providing him best medical treatment and other essential facilities to his family.
