MAHARASHTRA State and Nagpur District Under-13 badminton champion Aditya Yaul won boys singles in Yonex-Sunrise All India Sub-Junior (U-13) National Ranking Tournament at Kotak Pullela Gopichand Badminton Academy, Hyderabad on Tuesday. The event was organised by Telangana State Badminton Association. Aditya won his first national ranking tournament by getting better of Tanmay Verma of Uttarakhand in three games. After losing opening game 19-21, Aditya was trailing 6-11 in the second but he kept his cool and came back strongly to level it 1-1 by taking the game 21-16. In the final game, Aditya didn’t gave Tanmay chance and controlled the game to win it by 11 points 21-10.
 
Aditya, a Standard VI student of Bhavan’s BPVM, Koradi Road thanked his coaches Amit Raut, Mohan Wahare and Vivek Nagrare. He also thanked senior badminton coach Ajay Dayal, who trains him at DSO’s Khelo India Centre at Indoor Stadium, Divisional Sports Complex, Mankapur, for mentoring him. The prize distribution was done at the hands of Asian Games bronze medallist HS Prannoy and chief national badminton coach Pullela Gopichand. Nagpur’s U-13 girls singles badminton champion Vaishnavi Manglekar qualified for the main draw of the event and even won her first round match before bowing out to second seed Avni Govind in the second round. Vaishnavi practices under the guidance of Raut.
