AFTER registering two draws and as many defeats, Nagpur Blues finally managed to tank full points in the ongoing JSW Elite Division Football Tournament organised by Nagpur District Football Association at its Dr Ambedkar Football Stadium in Suyog Nagar, North Nagpur on Friday. But the maiden win of this year’s competition for Nagpur Blues was not an easy one. They had to toil hard for 70 minutes to find the net. It was Aryan Banerjee who managed to shoot the ball in the net in the 71st minute to put Nagpur Blues ahead.

A corner kick from Sagar Yadav was well gathered by Aditya Chahandane who dribbled a Big Ben defender to pass the ball towards an unmarked Banerjee who made no mistake in slotting the ball home. Prior to this win, Nagpur Blues had played draws against Qidwai Club and Indian Friends Football Club by an identical 1-1 score. They suffered losses at the hands of defending champions Young Muslim Football Club 2-1 and former title holders Rahul Sankrutyayan Sports Association 2-0.

As for Big Ben, their campaign is being rocked by five succssive defeats. They are lingering at the bottom of the table and have conceeded 16 goals and scored only three. Their defeats came against Nagpur Blues (0-1), Rahul (1-4), Ansar Club, Kamptee (0-1), YMFC (1-3) and Rabbani Club Kamptee (1-7). On Saturday: Ansar Club, Kamptee vs IFFC, Chankapur at 2.30 pm.
