Diwali festive flow continues as markets were choc-a-bloc with people of all age groups.

Almost all the market places witnessed heavy rush of customers for shopping on the eve of Diwali festival, on Saturday. Diwali is one of the biggest festivals for Hindu community but its celebration in ‘Sanskardhani’ Jabalpur is unique of its kind. Members of all the communities enthusiastically celebrate the festival every year with religious fraternity. Along with the celebrations, majority of businessmen right from owners of handcart to showrooms registered handsome business turnover during the festival.
People from every age group from different sections of the society started preparations for celebrating biggest festival of Hindu community in a colourful manner. Children were eagerly waiting for purchasing of firecrackers and clothes while senior citizens started preparations for worship of Goddess Laxmi and lord Ganesha. Youngsters have planned colourful Diwali celebrations in their groups and women seen preparing delicious traditional dishes at homes. Besides this, special arrangements have been made at sweets shops to cater the huge footfall of customers. On the other hand, in order to check the sale of adulterated food items and to control such practices extensive search and checking drive has been initiated by the District Administration, Jabalpur Municipal Corporation along with other concerned department to maintain quality and purity of products during Diwali by conducting surprise inspection in sweets marts, hotel and other fast food centres and restaurants.
Police Department is also working on toes to maintain law and order arrangements during the festival and strict implementation of Election Model Code of Conduct. Police have also declared a traffic management plan to manage traffic arrangements in market places and checking entry of heavy vehicles in the city.
