A cardiology centre will be inaugurated at Swami Vivekanand Medical Mission (SVMM), Khapri, as part of its golden jubilee year celebrations. The programme is on November 17 at 6 pm. Sarsanghachalak, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Dr Mohan Bhagwat, will be the chief guest at the function. Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari; Deputy Chief Minister, Devendra Fadnavis; will be guests of honour, informed Dr Dilip Gupta, President of the Mission, while addressing a press conference on Wednesday at Patrakar Club of Nagpur. SVMM is a premier medical institution and is being run since 1974 after it was set-up by medical practitioners and social workers of city. The aim was to provide affordable healthcare along with quality service and in last 50 years it has achieved significant milestone.

 

It is now a well established multi specialty hospital providing services to all sections of society with a skilled team of physicians, pediatric heart surgeons, cardiologists, and nurses. After the initial start with OPD services, it was in a cowshed at Khapri, Swami Vivekanand Medical Mission is now a fully equipped modern hospital with all required facilities, said Dr Gupta. After OPD, Eye Department was first to be set-up and later other departments came into being. Now, it is a 100-bed multi-superspeciality hospital, having 21 specialities. Till now, over 17 lakh patients have benefited from the services of the hospital with high quality equipment with affordable and reliable health services.

 

SVMM has recently established 4-bed comprehensive heart care centre with donations from the society. Now it has a dedicated cardiac surgery operation theatre, cathlab, dedicated recovery ICCU and OPD services. During past one year, SVMM has completed 100 plus pediatric heart surgery and 100 adult surgery. Parag Saraf, Vice President, Nitin Patil, Secretary, were also present during a press conference along with Members Dr Prashant Omkar and Ritesh Gawande.
