Adv Parijat Pande from Nagpur has been unanimously elected as Chairman of Maharashtra and Goa Bar Council. He will take charge from the present Chairman Adv Asif Quereshi. The election was held in Mumbai on Thursday during the meeting of the Council. Adv Pande, while talking to ‘The Hitavada’, expressed his happiness over the achievement. He said that he had some plans in his mind as Chairman and would like to steer those gradually. Silent and low profile Adv Pande is closely associated with Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). He was the active office-bearer of Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad during his student days. He is also associated with Adhivakta Parishad, an organisation working for the lawyers, for last decade. Adv Pande had won the elections of Maharashtra and Goa Bar Council as Member by clinching maximum votes.
 
During his tenure as Member of the Bar Council, Adv Parijat Pande has been most active. He tried to introduce several schemes for the welfare of the lawyers. Adv Pande conducted workshops, seminars to bring awareness among lawyers about technological advances. He insisted to equip lawyers with various soft skills for which he came forward to organise training. Adv Pande also introduced term plan, health insurance schemes for the lawyers.
 
When the Bill regarding Women Reservation was passed in Parliament, Adv Pande had moved the resolution to keep 5 seats reserved for women in the Council. Bar Council had convened a Full House meeting where Adv Pande, while moving resolution, had said that with the rise of number of women lawyers who are ably handling the matters, their leadership qualities too should get proper platforms and their participation should be increased. He had also brought to the notice of everyone that Bar Council should request Government to make legal provision in that regard and met Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister for the same.
