Shobhna Bandopadhyay assumed charge as General Manager of West Central Railway, on Wednesday. She is 1987 batch’s Indian Railway Service of Signal Engineers (IRSSE) Officer and first female General Manager of West Central Railway. She was earlier posted as Principal Executive Director (Vigilance). Having a long experience of working in Indian Railways, Shobhna Bandopadhyay rendered her services in Central Railway, South East Railway and Northern Railway and Northern Railway headquarters. WCR is not new for her as she already worked on different posts of Signal and Telecom Department.
 
Her working and leadership skills won accolades on different platforms. She was conferred with national-level ‘Leadership & Performance Excellence’ award while working as Divisional Railway Manager, Nagpur. Bandopadhyay is one of the eminent woman engineers who have rigorous experience of working in railway operation management, planning, design and control, maintenance, construction and different project management. She gave valuable contribution in development of basic railway structure, inspector technology, advancement of signal and telecom mechanism, business development, passenger service, vigilance and other sectors.
