In a shocking incident, a woman, on Monday early morning, gave birth to a baby on a running train. Unfortunately, the baby could not survive as he fell down from the berth soon after birth. However, what worsened the situation is the apathy of fellow passengers who did not come to help the woman in pain. As per information, pregnant Aarti Devi boarded a general compartment on Surat-Danapur train with her husband Yoginder Viteni Ravidas (45). The couple boarded the train from Udhna, Surat district for Danapur Bihar for the delivery of his wife who was in full term of her pregnancy.

 

When the train was somewhere near Katni, early on Monday morning, her labour pain started. The woman was in pain and delivered the baby on the berth she was sitting. But sadly, the baby fell from the berth and died on the spot. Despite this cruel turn of events, the couple didn’t get any help from the fellow passengers. When the train reached Jabalpur station, the couple got support from local authorities who arranged an ambulance for the couple to reach Rani Durgavati Hospital (Elgin). Shockingly the ambulance driver charged Rs 300 as fare from the couple to cover the distance of few yards between Jabalpur railway station and Elgin hospital. As Ravidas had mere Rs 200, the driver took it as fare. Clueless of what to do with the body of his child, Ravidas carried the body in his lap for hours, as his wife was admitted in the hospital.

 

He was roaming around outside the hospital, when someone called the members of Gareeb Nawaj Committee, who approached Ravidas and helped him to perform last rites of his child at Ranital crematorium. Inayat Ali from Gareeb Nawaj Committee also assured the couple for other helps they need during their stay in the city until his wife Aarti is discharged from the hospital. Mohammed Kareem, Riyaz Ali, Abid Baba, Altamash Raeen and Bachu Nankani rendered their help to the couple.
