District Collector Ashish Singh hit the streets on Tuesday morning to improve the transport system in the city. While taking a round of the city, apart from Nehru Nagar intersection, he visited major intersections like Rangmahal, Baghsevanya, and Bittan Market. At this time, he directed the staff of BMC and PWD to beautify the intersections, remove left turns and remove illegal encroachments. The Collector wandered around the city for about two hours. The Collector asked the BMC Commissioner Frank Noble A and PWD officers to complete the process of beautification of the intersections soon. Police, PWD, municipal corporation officials including ADM Harendra Narayan were also present.

 

Collector Singh said that the problem of traffic jam remains daily at these major junctions of the city. Many a times accidents happen due to the chaos created due to this. To get rid of these problems, the intersections will be widened. This is necessary to organise traffic and avoid traffic jams. Besides, these intersections will also be beautified. He instructed the officials to organise dividers and free turns while widening the intersections so that the traffic is orderly and traffic jams do not occur. In addition, the collector demanded the elimination of illegal encroachment on the intersections.

 

Collector Singh had already roamed the streets about six months ago. He had asked the officers to review the situation by holding a meeting every 15 days. However, many officers were transferred. At the same time, preparations for the assembly elections started. Due to this, decisions regarding traffic arrangements could not be taken. As soon as the voting was over, the Collector came into the field once again. In such a situation, it is being said that the decisions taken earlier will also be implemented.
