The thrill is gone
It’s gone away from me
The thrill is gone,
B B King’s - Guitar acoustics echo “The Thrill is gone”
It’s a very common opening sentence in any conversation with elderly person “In our good olden days”. Later the whole conversation may delve into the thrill they consumed over the years. Naturally, any conversation with old friends, classmates, will steer into nostalgic scenario, where every thing happening presently appears to be inferior to the earlier life, all the earlier days were very fabulous.
One sentiment often expressed by people is the feeling of Missing the Thrill! But is it really? Does the thrill of life really fade away with time? Or is it a matter of our perception?
Thrill has many dimensions, It is simply any new activity you involve, due to the excitement generated about the new thing results in Thrill! The emotional response to the novelty is Thrill! For an example any adventure trip you are going to join will be a thrill trigger point.
Right from the start of our life journey, at each second we gather new information, at every point of time we learn new things in the world, when we see new place, new activity, any damn new thing will definitely be the thrilling .
When I used search engine Google for very first time in year 2000-2001 it was the most thrilling net surfing event, later on many advances
taken place now it’s the era of OPEN AI (ChatGPT3.5 and ChatGPT4- Turbo).
When the whole world around is ever changing at tick of clock, new things are invented, novel gadgets are created, lot many innovations taking place all in the world, so much is happening good or bad, but why we still clog to the feeling of “The thrill is Gone”?
The perception plays vital role here, life circumstances are ever-changing for an individual, in the younger age
cycle every thing appears to be in colourful bloom, as time lapses, people may develop many limitations in terms of physical and psychological, many exciting things in the
early time may appear lacklustre at present.
If one keeps comparing each and every activity like eatables, attire, social relations, etc., with earlier time line, the present will become grim and push you into shadows of negativity.
Sure the simplicity, minimalistic life style, human relations, family, relatives and neighbourhood are beautiful things in the life. These aspects were unknowingly adopted in earlier days. They should remain as sweet memories only and cherished often.
In the ever changing world the traditions and practices of yester years loose their sanctity and become absolute.
But due to fast adoptability of global cultural trends and universal working environment, present generation, in sync with every one in the world, Gen –Z (Generation –Z) is having bunch of qualities, they all are tech driven, diverse, entrepreneurial spirited, pragmatic and realistic, activism- active for social cause, environment, and highly educated. So thrilling goals for present generations are entirely different from earlier life style, so it cannot be concluded that ‘Thrill is Gone’.
Embracing life’s changes will surely give new vision to the present world, It’s essential to remember that the thrill is not a relic of the past nor an elusive spectre of the future. The thrill is a constant companion.
We have to explore various possibilities to unearth ‘Thrill’, I have seen few senior men helping freely after retiring from services in Accounts/Material management for an independent orphanage in Kolkata, they are very happily spending time with satisfied souls and
have thrill. Few participate in communal services organised by helping groups, some
enter into teaching in colleges. The thrill can be kept alive all in a lifetime.
Perception and thrill are closely tied up, thrill is always there in the air, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
