A 23-YEAR-OLD youth was arrested for allegedly raping a minor girl in Charoda, Durg. In the matte Government Railway Police (GRP), Bhilai-3 arrested the accused following the complaint. Police sources informed that the accused has been identified as Shubham Sarkar (23), a resident of Devbaloda, Charoda, Durg. The police said that as per the facts recorded in the course of investigation, few days back the victim minor girl had been to a nearby forest area for collecting firewood when the accused Shubham Sarkar allegedly abducted her and took her to his house where he raped the victim while no one was at home.

 

It was also recorded in the investigation that the accused youth had allegedly threatened the victim of dire consequences if she ever dared to file the police complaint in the matter. In the matte the police team arrested the accused and registered offence against him under sections 376 and 506 of Indian Penal Code and sections 4 and 6 of Protection of Children from Sexual Offence Act. Rajkumar Borjha, Station House Officer, GRP Bhilai-3 informed that acting into the complaint of crime against minor girl on priority basis the police team swung into action and took the accused into custody immediately after the complaint. The police have already arrested the accused and are further investigating for establishing the criminal charges.
