While emphasising that the country is one of the fastest growing economies, Vishnu Bansal, Chairman of Morgan Stanley’s Investment Banking Division, on Saturday said that India will be a USD 7.5 trillion economy and the third largest in the world by 2031. He also said that India is on the right path of growth and it will see the fruits of various reforms brought in by the Government. Bansal was addressing the graduating students of the Institute of Management Technology (IMT) during the convocation ceremony held in the institute’s campus located on Katol Road. The Country Head of an American multinational investment bank and financial services company further said that turbulence in the global economies are impacting every nation.

“We are no exception as we are globally well connected and thus India will also feel the pinch. But the impact will be very low as we are uniquely placed in the current global scenario,” he pointed out. Commenting on the Russia-Ukraine and Israel-Hamas wars, Bansal observed that countries across the globe have been impacted due to it. “We have seen volatility in crude oil prices, disruption in supply chain management and so on all over the world. But the way India as a nation played its role in this crisis was remarkable,” he said, adding that India took a very balanced approach. Bansal gave tips on leadership and team work to the students. “Success never belongs to an individual. It’s always of the team. Great leaders nurture their teams,” he said. Bansal emphasised the importance of nurturing human capital, teamwork, listening skills and lifelong learning.

His advice included working hard, acquiring knowledge, giving back to society, and pursuing one’s passion for guaranteed success. Chief Mentor of the institute and former Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Kamal Nath also addressed the students virtually and lauded student managers for their achievements. At the outset, Dr Bigyan Verma, Director, IMT Nagpur, highlighted the achievements of the institute in the year 2021-23 and wished all the students for a bright future. The award ceremony began with the felicitation of the medallists of the batch of 2021-23. The gold medallist for the highest CGPA in PGDM Marketing was awarded to Hema Mookim, and the silver medal was awarded to Salil Pendharkar. In the PGDM Financial Management category, the gold medal went to Manika Gupta, and Abhishek Singh was felicitated with the silver medal.

In the PGDM category, the gold medal was achieved by Jyotsana Srivastava, who also secured the silver medal for being amongst the top CGPA scorers, and the silver medal was secured by Pratyush Singh. Navonil Mishra, Abhinav Kamal, Prachi Singh, and Animesh Kumar were awarded the ‘Distinguished Alumni Awards’ by Bansal. For all-rounder performance in academics and extra curricular, Mohit Bhatia secured the award of the best graduating student of the batch. Dr P Janaki Ramudu, Dean, Academics, IMT, proposed a vote of thanks.
