CITY athlete Seema Nakib Akhtar has been selected to represent India at the 22 Asian Masters Athletic Championship to be held at New Clark City, Capas, Tarlac, Philippines from November 8-12. David Premnath, Secretary General of Masters Athletics Federation of India declared the Indian contingent that has as many as 19 athletes from Maharashtra.
Seema will be taking part in the 400m hurdles and 2000m steeplechase in the women’s 35-39 age group.
ASI Seema Akhtar is serving the Police Department since 16 years. She has won 4km bronze medal in 2008 Federation National Games, Nagpur; 8km Maharashtra team silver in 2013 Federation Nationals at Chapra in Bihar and 3km steeplechase silver medal at All India Police Games at Patna in 2013.
