TEHSIL Police investigating the sensational murder of hoteliercum-property dealer Jamil Ahmed have seized nine pistols and 82 live cartridges from illegal arms dealers who had supplied the firearm to prime accused Mohammad Pervez Sohail Mohammad Harun in the case. Cops arrested four persons in this connection from whom the firearms and ammunition were seized and a case was registered against them at Ganeshpeth Police Station under Sections 120(b) of the Indian Penal Code, 3+25 Arms Act and 135 Maharashtra Police Act. Mohammad Pervez Sohail Mohammad Harun and two of his accomplices -- Salman Khan and Ashish Bishen -- had shot dead Jamil Ahmed from point blank range with a pistol at the reception lounge of his Al-Kareem Guest House near Rehman Chowk, Mominpura, in the small hours of October 26.

Jamil Ahmed (52) had a dispute over financial dealings with Mohammad Pervez, who, too, was a real estate agent. Speaking to mediapersons, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone III) Gorakh Bhamre said, a c c u s e d Mohammad Pervez during his custodial interrogation told investigators that he had procured the pistol and live cartridges from Firoze Khan alias Haji Mohammad Jabir (a resident of Boriyapura). Police then arrested Firoze Khan who confessed to selling the pistol to Mohammad Pervez, he added. Bhamre said that police picked up the main firearms supplier, Imran Alam Iqbal Alam (a native of Parasia, district Chhindwara, MP) from Gulshan Nagar, Kalamna. Imran Alam, who was involved in some crimes in Balaghat district (MP), had also sold a few pistols and ammunition to Mohsin Shafi Khan (a resident of Ganeshpeth) and Irshad Khan alias Monu Samshad Khan (a resident of Hasanbag, Nandanvan).

Police raided their houses and seized nine guns, including a country-made pistol, and 82 live rounds, he added. Bhamre said that preliminary investigations revealed that Imran Alam had links to some MP-based firearms smugglers. He was selling pistols to criminals in the city through his conduit Firoze Khan, he added. “We have arrested all the four accused from whose possession the firearms and live cartridges were seized,” Bhamre said, adding that “Police are interrogating the accused persons as possibility of recovery of some more firearms from them cannot be ruled out.”
