IT WAS heartbreak for Vidarbha in general and Bharti Fulmali and Komal Zanzad in particular as both the cricketers went unsold during the Women’s Premier League Auction held in Mumbai on Saturday. This leaves only Disha Kasat, who is on India ‘A’ duty, in WPL this season. Disha has been retained by Royal Challengers Bangalore. Right-arm medium pacer Bharti, who has also donned India colours against England in T20Is, was kept in the reserve price of Rs 30 lakh while Komal had Rs 10 lakh as her reserve price. Both the players went unsold in the first round and were not included in the second round as well.
Komal was part of Royal Challengers Bangalore after she was picked by the franchise for Rs 25 lakh last season but was released this year after playing only one match. It was expected that Bharti and Komal would get picked by one of the five franchisees. Bharti had attended the trials of Gujarat Giants and Mumbai Indians but both the teams did not show any interest during the auction.
