A run was organised by Indian Armed Forces as part of ‘Honour Run’ celebrations in Jabalpur, on Sunday. ‘Honour Run’ has been conceived to give a platform for citizens to run in honour, valour and sacrifice of our soldiers and their next of keen. The first edition is dedicated to Kargil Vijay Rajat Jayanti. The ‘Honour Run’ race was flagged off from the Cobra Integrated Sports Ground. More than 200 runners from 1 Signal Training Centre, Grenadiers Regimental Centre, Jammu & Kashmir Riffle Regimental Centre and College of Material Management participated enthusiastically in this race. In this race, the runners covered a total distance of 5 kilometres in Jabalpur city. The ‘Honour Run’ race is a testament to the dedication and strong commitment of the Indian Army to promote sportsmanship among the youth and create health awareness.
During the race, the enthusiasm and zeal of the youth and citizens of Jabalpur was amazing and demonstrable, all the spectators encouraged the runner participants. In this ‘Honour Run’ race organized by 1 Signal Training Centre, the runners securing first, second and third positions were honoured by Lieutenant General MK Das, General Officer Commanding Madhya Bharat Area. Apart from this, the centre of attraction and inspiration for everyone in this race was the youngest runner Pragya Bhadauria, aged 5 years, who took less than 26 minutes to complete this 5 kilometre race. For this, she was also honoured with an award.
On the occasion, Lieutenant General MK Das, General Officer Commanding Madhya Bharat Area said that this ‘Honour Run’ is a part of the national celebration of Kargil Vijay Jayanti, which adds even more significance and purpose to the event. He said that this race awakened the feeling of patriotism and respect for the nation in the hearts of the soldiers and citizens and he called upon us to always remember the heroic acts of the soldiers who displayed extraordinary courage and bravery in protecting the country and sacrificed their life.
