Vishnu Deo Sai, a prominent tribal leader, traces his political roots back to 1989 when he entered politics as a Panch from his native Bagiya village. He was elected a Sarpanch unopposed in 1990, marking the beginning of a prolific political career. Sai transitioned to state politics by becoming an MLA from Tapkara, serving in the Madhya Pradesh Legislative Assembly from 1990 to 1998. His dedication to public service and advocacy for tribal communities propelled him into national politics. Vishnu Deo Sai in 1999, was elected to 13th Lok Sabha from the Raigarh constituency. Sai was re-elected to 14th Lok Sabha and again in 2009, Sai was reelected to the 15th Lok Sabha for a third term In 2014, he was reelected to 16th Lok Sabha (4th term) and was made Union Minister of State for Steel, Mines, Labour, and Employment under the first Ministry of the Modi government. His stint as a Union Minister lasted until 2019, during which he contributed to key policy areas.
 
Vishnu Deo Sai served as the state president of the party in 2006 and later in 2020. He was also included in the National Working Committee in 2022 and later as a special invitee in July 2023. Recognising his political acumen, experience, and strong affiliation with the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), the BJP has entrusted Vishnu Deo Sai with the Chief Ministerial position in Chhattisgarh. As Vishnu Deo Sai assumes the mantle of Chhattisgarh's Chief Minister, the spotlight is now on how he will navigate the diverse challenges facing the state. His deep-rooted connection with tribal communities and extensive political experience position him as a pivotal figure in steering Chhattisgarh's future. The selection of Vishnu Deo Sai reflects the BJP's strategic approach to governance, placing emphasis on regional leadership and representation of tribals who voted BJP in block in state assembly election.
