Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, on Monday said that the verdict of Supreme Court on abrogation of Article 370 was a welcome decision and also a huge victory for Indians. Fadnavis made this statement while interacting with mediapersons in the Vidhan Bhavan premises here. “The abrogation of Article 370 was a bold decision taken by the Centre under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah in 2019,” he said.
The Supreme Court has also accepted that the President has all the rights to revoke Article 370 as this was a temporary provision, he said. “Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India. There was no question of compromising the Indian territory. The BJP Government was committed to safeguarding the interests and aspirations of the people who always wanted Article 370 to be scrapped. In any case it was a temporary provision,” Fadnavis said. “We thank the Apex Court, PM Modi, and Amit Shah for such a bold and much-needed step. It’s time to make Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh as Naya Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.
