RIDING on superb all-round performance by Satyam Bhoyar (157 runs and 4 wkts), Advocate XI defeated defending champions All India Radio on first inning lead at Gurunanak Pharmacy Ground in VCA’s Guzder A Division match.

In the 2-day match, Advocate XI, batting first after winning the toss, scored 377. Opener Bhoyar scored a daddy hundred from 168 balls hitting 20 fours and three sixes. Aman Khan (53), Vivek Borkar (39), Aditya Kukade (36), Vaibhav Lande (27) and Hemant Rathod (25) gave Bhoyar good support. For AIR, Danish Malewar took three wickets for 78 runs. Tushar Targe and Kaustubh Salve took two each.

 

Chasing 378 for important first inning lead, AIR managed 320 before getting all out. For AIR, openers Mohit Nachankar (37) and Vaibhav Choukse (53) added 83 runs in 21 overs. But then Bhoyar, after his brilliant work with bat, removed Nachankar for first breakthrough. One down batter Danish Malewar was going great guns. At lunch AIR lost two more wickets with Bhoyar taking the prize wicket of skipper Kshitiz Dahiya.

 

After lunch, Malewar found good support from Siddhesh Kantode (23), Mayank Jasore (50) and Siddharth (31). At one stage AIR were in good position with score of 293 for 5 wkts in 67 overs. Bhoyar took four wickets for 53 runs in his 16 overs. He was well supported by Aditya Kukade who took three for 90 runs. Malewar scored brilliant 93 of 99 balls (7 fours and 3 sixes). Advocate XI collected three points while AIR got one from the match.
