In the food poisoning case, the Kalameshwar Police, on Thursday, registered an offence against six persons, most of whom are owners of Chokar Dhani restaurant located on Amravati road, . The accused have been identified as Jeetu Mohan Sawlani, Shyam Sawlani, Dhanraj Shyam Sawlani, Mohan Sawlani, Naresh Sawlani, Soni Sawlani, all residents of the area near Sai Chanduram Darbar, Jaripatka. The offence was registered on the complaint made by businessman Kailash Batra, a resident of Wardhaman Nagar. The Rural Police formed two special teams to investigate the case on Wedneday. The teams recorded statements of the victims and collected medical reports from the doctors.
 
Superintendent of Police (SP) Harssh Poddar said that the offence was registered on the basis of reports and statements. Further investigation would also be conducted in the case, he said. Meanwhile, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) also launched probe into the matter. The wedding of Batra’s son took place on December 9 and 10. Trouble began on the afternoon of December 10 when the bridegroom and other guests experienced stomach pain after the meal. The situation escalated during the night reception when the food emitted a foul smell. Despite complaints to the Chokar Dhani manager, the issue was allegedly ignored, Batra stated in the complaint. The case was registered under Section 279 of Indian Penal Code.
