VIDARBHA all-rounder Yash Kadam played a hurricane innings and took 11 wickets in a match to escort Navniketan to a stunning win over All India Reporter (AIR) in the ongoing Guzder A Division two-day match on Friday. At Gurunanak Pharmacy ground, Kadam played a captain’s innings as he hammered 85 runs from 29 balls to help Navniketan register a six-wicket victory. In the first innings, AIR rode on captain Kshitiz Dahiya’s 144 from 135 deliveries to post 252 runs. Kadam bowled well and took five wickets for 79 runs.

In reply, Navniketan’s Faiz Sheikh hit a timely century (104) but they fell short to take first innings lead by just two runs. Kadam then wreaked havoc and took six wickets in 12.3 overs as AIR were all out for 128 runs thus giving a target of 131 runs to Navniketan. Navniketan lost both the openers Avesh Sheikh (4) and Parmatama Pande (2) cheaply but Kadam stood tall and hammered almost all AIR bowlers to all parts of the field. His 29-ball knock included four cracking boundaries and nine towering sixes to take his team near the target. His partner Alok Wadkar was a mere spectator as Kadam toyed with AIR bowers. Faiz Sheikh took freed his arms and hit 25 runs from mere 12 deliveries which had two fours and as many sixes. Navniketan cantered home in only nine overs and six wickets in hand.
