Announcement of Dr Mohan Yadav’s name as a Chief Minister has stunned many, so is the case with the razing down of illegal construction on houses accused of slashing the palm of a BJP worker. As against his predecessor Shivraj Singh Chouhan, who has earned the Mama moniker in view of launching a slew of women-centric welfare schemes e.g. Ladli Laxmi Yojana and Beti Bachao Abhiyan and Ladli Bahna Yojana. He is known for avuncular style of working. Although, for a short period, former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan undergone an image makeover and ordered stern action rape accused. If seemed that in line with the Yogi Adityanath government in Uttar Pradesh, Shivraj Singh Chouhan used the bulldozer as a tool to teach lessons to criminals only for a few incidents. Acting against gang rape, rioting and kidnapping accused in Seoni, Sheopur, Jaora, Shahdol and Raisen, Shivraj Singh Chouhan had ordered to raze down the property of accused. Within six days, the house of Shahdol rape accused was demolished. This was following an investigation by the chief municipality officer who found a number of illegalities in the construction of the house. The banners were seen in Bhopal with bulldozer mama written and an image of CM Chouhan and a bulldozer in the background. But it could not gain ground and it has been said that the team of officers close to the former CM worked on women centric schemes and Former CM Chouhan returned to his former role of 'Mama'.

But a PhD in political science, Yadav in his first order talks about prohibitory order on unauthorised loudspeakers’ and just a day after his oath-taking ceremony, the bulldozer action comes, the house of Farukh Raine, was demolished in Janta Colony area of Bhopal. Police have arrested Farukh, Aslam, Shahrukh, Bilal and Sameer for ‘attack’ a BJP worker. In political messaging, the bulldozer is used to show a strong stance against criminals. Although, It has received mixed reaction, a section termed it unconstitutional. A section of denizens does not find it justifiable when one person commits a crime; other members of his family are being punished for his action. An advocate on condition of anonymity told to ‘The Hitavada’, “We have laws and procedures that need to be followed. In the past too such actions were taken and they moved the court against such demolitions. When one person commits a crime, the state is expected to follow the due process of law.” The police and administration have criminalised the entire family and punished them. While another sect supports the action finding an effective way to nip the problem in the bud.

Political observers find it a transformation from flooding of women centric schemes to tough stance narrative by state government. Which is not going to fade with time, as the Chief Minister was being known for his Hindutva proponent image who hails from temple town Ujjain. A blue-eyed boy of one of the top RSS functionaries, Suresh Soni. After the swearing-in as the Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Dr Mohan Yadav visited his hometown Ujjain and performed Rudrabhishek at Mahakaleshwar Temple. Yadav said, “It is important to seek the blessings of Baba when you get a new opportunity,” after offering prayers at Mahakal Temple in Ujjain. State Wrestling Association Chief, Dr Mohan Yadav is all set ready to helm the Madhya Pradesh Government. How far new CM will be able to translate his rhetoric into action remains to be seen.
