ISIS BALLARI MODULE NIA detains Achalpur youth

National Investigation Agency (NIA), on Monday, detained a 19-year-old youth who was in touch with the Ballari Module of ISIS through an encrypted app. The NIA team conducted a raid on a house at Akbari Chowk area in Achalpur and detained the youth. The press release of NIA confirmed that the youth was detained in connection with the Ballari Module’s plan to trigger IED blast that was foiled by NIA. The action was a part of raids conducted on 19 locations across four States in which 8 operatives of the banned terror outfit’s Ballari Module, including its leader Minaz were arrested. The plans by the accused to carry out terror acts, especially IED blasts, was foiled.

The NIA team conducted raids in Amravati, Mumbai and Pune. The NIA teams reached Achalpur in three vehicles at around 3 am on Monday and later called other teams from Achalpur, Paratwada and Sarmaspura Police Station. The teams immediately reached Akbari Chowk in Achalpur. The officials then raided the youth’s house and detained him. The youth is studying in Nagpur while his mother is a teacher. The NIA team interrogated the youth and his family members till early morning. He was detained and brought to Amravati. The youth’s father accompanied him. The NIA team carried out rigorous inquiry of the youth. The team conducted a raid at Paradise Colony here in the afternoon in connection with the detained youth.

The youth is currently in NIA’s custody and is being interrogated. As per NIA press release, the teams swooped down on the 19 locations spread across Ballari and Bengaluru in Karnataka, Amravati, Mumbai and Pune in Maharashtra, Jamshedpur and Bokaro in Jharkhand and Delhi. The 8 ISIS agents arrested during the raids were involved in actively promoting terror related acts and activities of ISIS, the proscribed organisations. They were operating under the leadership of Minaz@ Md. Sulaiman. The raids also led to the seizure of explosive raw materials, such as Suplhur, Potassium Nitrate, Charcol, Gunpower, Sugar and Ethanol, sharp edged weapons, unaccounted cash and incriminating documents, along with smart phones and other digital devices.
