THE oil marketing companies (OMCs) have hiked price of the commercial LPG which will now cost Rs 1,973 per cylinder of 19 kg in the city. The new price will be effective from December 1. Earlier, the price of commercial LPG in the city was costing Rs 1,952 per cylinder of 19 kg, an increase of Rs 21 per cylinder. This move by the OMCs will be seen as a setback to the hotels, restaurants and other commercial establishments which use the commercial LPG cylinders in large quantities. The pice rise of the commercial LPG cylinder is due to surge in international prices. State-owned Indian Oil Corporation (IOC), Bharat Petroleum Corporation Ltd (BPCL) and Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Ltd (HPCL) revise cooking gas and ATF prices on the 1st of every month, based on the average international price in the previous month.
