CHHATTISGARH shivers as bone chilling conditions have strengthened the winter season warning of harsh cold conditions in coming days. The State is experiencing sharp drop in temperatures with lowest minimum of 5.2 degrees recorded at Ambikapur. Several places are reeling under shivering frostiness influencing both the maximum and minimum temperature. Apart from Ambikapur, minimum below 10 degrees was recorded at Pendra Road which chilled at 7.2 degree Celsius followed by Rajnandgaon recording 9.0 degrees, Durg 9.6 degrees and Jagdalpur 9.7 degree Celsius.

 

Meanwhile, people of capital city are enjoying the chilly conditions followed by sunset with the advent of winter. The impact of bright sunshine was overshadowed under the steady cool winds in the evening hours, tickling down the mercury level by three degrees at 12.4 on Wednesday as compared to 15.0 degree Celsius recorded on Monday. No sooner evening descends, chilly breeze brings shivering moments to bones of many whether the young ones or the veterans. And if weathermen are to be believed there will be no change of climate and the winter season will further strengthen taking the cold conditions to the peak. The impact of sunshine during the day has faded and the people in Raipur and nearby areas, who were disappointed after day temperature left them sweat, now have to take support of woolens.

 

While detailing on the existing weather condition, weatherman said that with the change in wind pattern cold dry winds continuously arriving from Northerly direction have brought down the minimum temperature in the capital and across the state as well. The snow fall recorded in upper reaches of Himalayas has induced extreme chilly conditions that carry its impact while blowing to the Central part of the country including Chhattisgarh. However, there is no possibility of major change in the minimum temperature for next 24 hours under the prevailing cold and dry winds. The Met Centre has stated of a western disturbance impacting the north western states which will likely to change the direction of the wind. This will result in chances of increase in minimum temperature over the state on December 22. However slight overcast condition is expected in some districts on December 23 and 24. In the general forecast, the weather is expected to be dry across the state on December 21. The sky is likely to be clear over Raipur with maximum and minimum temperature will be 26.0 degrees and 13.0 degrees respectively on Thursday
