RAHUL Sankrutyayan Sports Association ousted reigning champions Young Muslim Football Club to set a final date with former winners Rabbani Club for supremacy in JSW NDFA Elite Division Football Tournament. It was left to the last two matches of Super Four league to decide the finalists. Rahul and Rabbani scored identical 2-0 wins to make it to the summit clash to be played at Dr BR Ambedkar ground Suyog Nagar on Boxing Day (December 26). In the Rahul vs YMFC match, both the teams fought hard and with defenders coming good, none was able to score. With just ten minutes left in the virtual semi-final, Badal Soren’s strike hit a rival player and the team got a corner. Gaurav Sahare took the kick and the ball kissed YMFC’s Mohammed Faisal before crossing the goalline (own goal). Seven minutes later in the 87th minute, Soren sealed the fate of the match with a fine goal.
He collected the ball near the half line and surged ahead dodging two-three defenders. Close to the box, he passed the ball to Valerian Paul who quickly returned and Soren made no mistake. Paul (23rd), Rahul Neware (79th), Sagar Chintala (79th), Preet Kanojiya (81st) and Abid Sheikh (89th) were cautioned for rough play. In the other match, Rabbani opened their account in the 70th minute through Mohammad Owais Ashraf who slotted home on a through pass by Zahid Akhtar. Salim Ebad made it 2-0 in the 79th minute converting another measured pass from Zahid.
