The long-awaited first-ever Cabinet expansion of Dr Mohan Yadav-led BJP Government in Madhya Pradesh took place on Monday. A total of 28 ministers were inducted into the Yadav Cabinet. With this, the total strength of the State Cabinet has gone up to 31, including the Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Ministers. The maximum strength of the Council of Ministers in the State can be 35. Governor Mangubhai Patel administered oath of office and secrecy to 28 MLAs, including two women lawmakers-Samapatiya Uike and Nirmala Bhuria and BJP heavyweight leaders Kailash Vijayvargiya and Prahlad Patel, in the oath-taking ceremony.
 
Along with Vijayvargiya and Patel, the lawmakers who took oath include Rakesh Singh, Rao Uday Pratap Singh, Karan Singh Verma, Nagar Singh Chauhan, Samapatiya Uike, Eidal Singh Kansana, Pradyuman Singh Tomar, Inder Singh Parmar, Nirmala Bhuria, Tulsi Silawat, Vijay Shah, Vishwas Sarang, Govind Singh Rajput, Narayan Singh Kushwaha, Rakesh Shukla and Chetan Kashyap took oath as Cabinet Ministers. Krishna Gaur, Dharmendra Lodhi, Dilip Jaiswal, Gautam Tetwal, Lakhan Patel and Narayan Panwar took oath as Minister of State (independent charge). Radha Singh, Pratima Bagri, Dilip Ahirwar and Narendra Shivaji Patel took oath as Minister of States. Two Deputy Chief Ministers Rajendra Shukla and Jagdish Devda had earlier taken oath on December 13 when Dr Mohan Yadav was sworn in as the Chief Minister in presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. As a part of the Cabinet expansion exercise, 18 Cabinet Ministers and 10 Ministers of States, including 6 with independent charge and four state ministers, took oath at a ceremony held at Raj Bhawan. Ahead of the expansion, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav had said that the new Cabinet will work for the State’s betterment under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other senior BJP leaders. Earlier, the Madhya Pradesh CM met Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla, BJP chief J P Nadda and Union Minister Anurag Thakur in the national capital. He also met President Draupadi Murmu at the Rashtrapati Bhavan on Sunday.
