In a shocking incident, a man identified as Hemlal Verma (39) poisoned his family of four, leading to the tragic demise of himself and his elder daughter, Priya (14), during the course of treatment.The incident that took place at their residence in Lakshmipara, Jamul has left the community and authorities perplexed. According to Jamul Police Station In-charge Keshav Kosle, the incident occurred on Monday night when Hemlal Verma urged his family, consisting of his wife Jahnvi (38) and two daughters Priya and younger daughter Muskan (11), to consume what he claimed to be Ayurvedic medicine. After ingesting the substance, all family members fell severely ill.

 

Jahnvi, realising the gravity of the situation, contacted her father for immediate assistance. The family was promptly rushed to the hospital, where Hemlal and Priya succumbed to the effects of poisoning. The conditions of Jahnvi and Muskan remain critical. The reason behind the extreme step taken by the man who worked as a contract worker in Bhilai Municipal Corporation remained unknown. In a shocking revelation, Jahnvi informed the police that her husband had misled the family, convincing them that the toxic substance was a harmless Ayurvedic remedy. The Jamul Police are investigating this case, with no suicide note discovered from the scene.

 

The bodies of the deceased have been shifted to mortuary and further legal proceedings in the case were on. Additional SP (Urban) Abhishek Jha stated that the motive behind this tragic act remains unknown. Hemlal Verma, hailing from an affluent background, seemingly had no apparent reasons for taking such an extreme step. Authorities have recorded statements from relatives and investigations are going on to unravel the circumstances leading to this incident. The bodies of the deceased have been shifted to the mortuary and legal proceedings are under way.
