‘Maharally’ today Cong Set to sound poll bugle

Former Congress Presidents Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi along with Priyanka Gandhi and current Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge will address the Party’s rally organised in city to mark Congress’ 139th foundation day, on Thursday. The mega rally would virtually kick off the Congress’ campaign for the upcoming general elections from the heart of the country. Addressing mediapersons, on Wednesday, at ‘Bharat Jodo Maidan’, the venue of the ‘Maharally’ at Bahadura, near Dighori Chowk, Umred Road, Nana Patole, President of Maharashtra Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC), said, “Nagpur extended its hand whenever Congress needed it. Nagpur played a major role in Congress’ endeavour to bring change in the country. The ‘Maharally’ scheduled to be held on at 2 pm on Thursday will spread the message of change all over the country.

Patole, Naseem Khan, Atul Londhe, Girish Pandav and others visited the venue and reviewed the preparations. The ‘Bharat Jodo Maidan’ is set for the mega rally with three grand stages -- A, B and C. Stage ‘A’ will have leaders like Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi while major functionaries of the All India Congress Committee, other national leaders, current Chief Ministers of various Congress-ruled States will occupy their seats on Stage ‘B’. On Stage ‘C’, all the office-bearers of MPCC, MLAs, MLCs, former ministers, are expected share the dais. According to police sources, one lakh people can be accommodated in the present arrangement at the venue. Congress leaders have claimed that about 10 lakh people are likely to attend the ‘Maharally.’

“Just as we sent the British home, we will also send the BJP dictatorship home. Congress is ready to solve the problems of inflation, unemployment, farmers’ issues. When there is a crisis in the country, it is from the land of Nagpur that the Congress calls ‘Elgar’. Today, the country’s democratic system, constitution and all the four pillars of democracy are under threat. It is the responsibility of Congress to keep this system intact,” said Patole. “This is 139th foundation day of Congress which the Party will celebrate at Nagpur on Thursday. All the preparations for this grand meeting have been completed and the leading Congress leaders from all over the country have arrived in Nagpur,” added Patole.
