With heavy fog enveloping Northern India, the schedule of long distance passenger carrying trains have got derailed, especially on the Grand Trunk route. Trains originating from the Eastern corridor of Indian Railways have also been affected due to foggy conditions and ongoing speed restrictions to facilitate track networking expansion works. Despite Railway's claims of affixing fog pass devices, which allow train crew to safely negotiate the signals
allowing for normal train operation, nearly 13 pairs of trains passing through Nagpur Railway Station were delayed by several hours which disrupted the perfectly drawn plan of travellers.
 
But with setting of extreme chilly conditions in upper reaches of Himalaya, the entire North India is under dense fog cover and this is an annual phenomena. Therefore due to fog, the train are run at caution speed as matter of abundant precaution. Due to uneven timing even Operations at respective division gets difficult as many a times there is bunching of trains. For travellers it's more difficult as due to late running trains regular platform gets disturbed.
