SHAUNAK Badole, with seven points out of possible seven, won the Nagpur District Amateur Selection Chess Championship held at Vivekanand Hall, Shraddha House, Kingsway on Sunday. The championship was organised by Chess Association Nagpur in joint venture with Kalpana Prakash Welfare Foundation and GH Raisoni Sports and Cultural Foundation. Top seeded Shaunak won all his games for the crown. Chandrashekhar Sable with 6 points was a clear second.
 
Avdhoot Deshmukh, veteran Ishwar Ramteke, Vuval Sunil Mohurle and Nimish Rahalkar all scored 5 and half points and were adjudged third to sixth in the merit list based on their tie-break scores. Shaunak, Chandrashekhar, Avadhoot and Ishwar have been selected to represent Nagpur district in the Maharashtra State Amateur Chess Championship scheduled to be held at Thane from December 9-11. Rahul Naidu, Director, M/s Pratham Manpower Services Pvt Ltd gave away the prizes. SS Soman, Member, MCA Observer Committee; Bhushan Shriwas, Secretary, CAN were present on the dais.
