The Maharashtra Government has cancelled the Government Resolution (GR) issued by Congress in 2021 that had imposed fees of Rs 168 per square feet for regularising the plots in unauthorised layout under Gunthewari Act. It has issued new GR and given rights to Nagpur Improvement Trust (NIT)/ Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA) to charge the fees. The issue of unauthorised layout development charges falling under NMRDA was pending with Government.
The regularisation fee of Rs 168 per square foot levied by the Congress-led Government seemed unfair. MLA Krishna Khopde repeatedly followed up through correspondence at the Government level in order to cancel and give relief to the citizens. In this regard, Devendra Fadnavis, Deputy Chief Minister had assured in the House that immediate action would be taken after discussing the issue in the Legislative Assembly. Devendra Fadnavis kept his word by canceling the GR and empowering NMRDA to take decisions at its level.
Khopde pointed out, “During Fadnavis’s tenure as Chief Minister, development fee was Rs 56 for regularisation of plots under Gunthewari on unauthorised layout in the outer part of Nagpur city. Lakhs of plot holders benefited from it. This has given relief to millions of citizens after cancelling ‘black’ GR issued by Congress that had increased the fees by three times to Rs168 per square feet.” The plot holders in unauthorised layouts under rural NMRDA have applied for regularisation by paying 3000/- and this regularisation application should be extended by 3 months again, demanded Krishna Khopde.
Gunthewari regularisation application submission date extended
The date of application submission for Gunthewari regularisation under Nagpur Metropolitan Region Development Authority (NMRDA) has been extended from November 30, 2023 to January 31, 2024. The authorities concerned had announced the programme for application submission to get their plots regularised. The people have to submit application online on www.nmrda.org by paying Rs 1,000 fees which will be non-refundable, Rs 2,000 as measurement fee and Rs 5 per square feet. The Government of Maharashtra’s Urban Development Department amended the Maharashtra Gunthewari Development Act 2001 on March 1, 2021. It has been implemented now in Maharashtra.
