AFTER suffering a 1-3 defeat at the hands of defending champions Young Muslim Football Club (YMFC) a couple of days back, South East Central Railways bounced back to winning ways and virtually booked Super Four berth in the ongoing JSW Elite Division League Championship organised by Nagpur District Football Association at its Dr Ambedkar Football Stadium, Suyog Nagar, North Nagpur on Wednesday. In their penultimate match of the league round, the railmen defeated Nagpur Blues 2-1 to take their points tally to 16, five behind YMFC who have already booked a Super Four berth. SECR too have confirmed their position in Super Four as they have only one match remaining against wooden spoon holder Big Ben. Rahul Sankrutyayan Sports Association (12) and Rabbani Club Kamptee (11) are in the race for the remaining two spots of Super Four. Both have two games left in the league stage.
SECR dependable forward P Tushal was on target in the 33rd minute of play.
Collecting the ball just over the box, Tushal fired in a long range shot which went into the back of the net. This was Tushal’s fourth goal of the tournament. The railmen earned a free-kick at a dangerous position and Nirmal Mundra who was quite till now this season, made no mistake in slotting the ball home to double the lead. Nagpur Blues, who are seventh on points table with only one game remaining, managed to pull one back through Dyaneshwar Chinna in the 77th minute. Dyaneshwar beautifully headed a cross from right flank to score the only goal for Blues.
