Taking initiative to shift towards green energy, Bhopal railway installed 1060 BLDC fans at platforms, station and service building. This helps railway to generate revenue and go green. These fans use lesser energy in comparison to conventional fans. Railway officials said that after installation of BLDC fans, Rs 13 lakh will be saved annually. Under its energy campaign, railway has installed 5kw of solar panels at 13 stations including Mathela, Khirkiya, Timarni, Banapur, Chanera, Ashoknagar, Mungawali, Shajapur, Mandibamora, Kanjia, Gulabganj, Mandideep and Ganjbasoda. Through these panel, 8380 units of electricity is being generated per month.
In this way, railway is saving around Rs 9 lakh annually. Besides, railway has also set up wind solar hybrid plant in Shivpuri, Panihar, Bhopal, Pawarkheda, Vidisha stations. Divisional Railway Manager Devashish Tripathi said that electricity department of railway is doing an exemplary work in the direction of green energy and energy conservation. He further informed that a 1 MW solar plant is installed in Bhopal division produced 13.18 lakh units under renewable energy in the financial year 2021-22 and 13.20 lakh in year 2022-23.. This saved Rs 36 lakh and about 1100 tonnes of carbon emission.
Circuit automaton work is being done at 12 stations of Bhopal division including Harda, Narmadapuram, Bhopal Sant Hirdaram Nagar, Sachi, Vidisha, Ganjbasoda, Bina, Ashok Nagar, Guna, Vyavara, Rajgarh, Shivpuri that switch off the lights and fans of station after train passes. In this system, 100 percent light and fans remain off when train reaches to the station and when train cross the platform, 70 percent light get switch off.
