Notices to 8 MLCs of NCP rival factions

 

 

 

 

Neelam Gorhe, Deputy Chairperson of Maharashtra Legislative Council, is learnt to have issued notices to eight MLCs belonging to two rival factions of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP). According to sources, she has asked them to submit their replies on the competing petitions seeking their disqualification. It is learnt that the notices have been issued to Ramraje Naik Nimbalkar, Aniket Tatkare, Amol Mitkari, Satish Chavan, and Vikram Kale belonging to NCP faction led by Ajit Pawar, who is Deputy Chief Minister; Eknath Khadse, Shashikant Shinde, and Arun Lad belonging to NCP faction led by veteran leader Sharad Pawar. The notices have been issued to these eight MLCs under the Maharashtra Legislative Council (Disqualification on Ground of Defection) Rules, 1986.

 

As per the notice, these MLCs have been asked to submit relevant documents to the Deputy Chairperson of Legislative Council within seven days of the receipt of the notice. In case of failure of the MLCs in submission of their say within stipulated period, their petitions may be decided in accordance with the relevant provisions. Sharad Pawar faction of NCP has filed petition seeking disqualification of five MLCs who went with Ajit Pawar and joined the State Government led by Eknath Shinde as Chief Minister and Devendra Fadnavis as Deputy Chief Minister. Ajit Pawar camp also filed petition seeking disqualification of three MLCs with Sharad Pawar.
