Mother commits suicide with 4-year-old daughter

 

 

 

A YOUNG woman committed suicide with her four-year-old daughter in her lap in Ambazari Lake on Monday night.

Bodies of Kalpana Ravi Pandagale (30) and her daughter Khushi alias Sweety (4) were fished out from the lake by Fire Brigade personnel on Tuesday morning. The mother-daughter duo was residing at Rai Town, Vaishali Nagar, MIDC.

On Monday night, Kalpana and Khushi came near Ambazari Lake. Kalpana was looking quite depressed. They ate snacks and sat on the lake wall. She then sent a message on her husband’s cellphone asking him whether he was interested to see his daughter’s face for the last time. She also sent a message to him that he would get ‘good news’ tomorrow. Kalpana then took a plunge into the lake with Khushi in her lap. A youth noticed Kalpana jumping into the lake and informed the police. Staff from Ambazari Police Station and Fire & Emergency Department personnel arrived at the spot. Police found a chit left by Kalpana near the spot mentioning the cell numbers of her husband, brother and mother. As it was dark, the bodies could not be traced.
