United Forum of Maha Bank Unions starts two-day strike

Banking operations at all the branches of Bank of Maharashtra (BoM) in the city were impacted on Thursday as seven unions of the bank employees observed a two-day strike under the banner of United Forum of Maha Bank Unions.
Seven unions including All India Bank of Maharashtra Employees Federation (AIBOMEF), Bank of Maharashtra Officers’ Organisation (BOMOO), National Organisation of Bank Workers (NOBW), Bank of Maharashtra Karmachari Sena (BOMK Sena) and Mahabank Navnirman Sena (MNS) are supporting the agitation which is being observed throughout the nation.
In Nagpur, more than 400 officers and employees took part in the agitation on the first day of the strike.
All the branches of the bank were close on account of the strike. Demonstrations were held here at the Bank of Maharashtra Zonal Office in Sitabuldi under the leadership of President of All India Bank of Maharashtra Employees Federation and General Secretary of Bank of Maharashtra Employees Union Nagpur Swayamprakash Tiwari.
On the occasion, Tiwari highlighted the shortage of manpower in the bank and other alleged anti-employees policies and decisions of Bank of Maharashtra’s management. Tiwari also said that the bank management must start discussion with the unions. President of Eastern Maharashtra Bank Employees Association Suresh Bobate and General Secretary Jayant Gurwe also addressed the gathering. In his address, President of Bank of Maharashtra Officers’ Association Vijay Meshram, said offices and employees should jointly take forward the agitation.
Nilesh Bhawane and Rupesh Nagrikar of National Organisation of Bank Officers; Archana Soni and Vignesh Padhye of National Organisation of Bank Workers also expressed their views during the demonstrations.
Deputy General Secretary of Bank of Maharashtra Santosh Ramgiriwar proposed the formal vote of thanks.
Kapil Joshi, Lalitkumar Kolte, Praveen Gurung, Smita Bhande, Surekha Umak and others took efforts to make the demonstration and the strike successful.
