Dhote and Jaiswal dare 5km swimathon with jellyfish bites

CITY’S lone woman Ironman 70.3 Dr Sunita Dhote and Dr Rajendra Jaiswal, a motivational speaker, completed 5kms swimathon braving jellyfish attacks in Open Water Sea Swimming held at Betalbatim Beach, Goa recently. The adventure event was organsied by Enduro Sports.
Believing in ‘Exploring, learning and practising something new is strengthening and rejuvenating in life’, Dr Dhote, a Human Resource trainer, record holder cyclist, marathon runner, Ironman 70.3 and Professor at Department of Management Technology, Shri Ramdeobaba College of Management and Technology and Dr Jaiswal a renowned world record holder, motivational speaker, cyclist, marathon runner, Ironman 70.3 and a contractor by profession, completed 5kms swimathon to enjoy thrill and challenges of open water sea swimming. The timing of completion of swimming of Dhote and Jaiswal were 2.53 and 3.17 hours respectively
As many as 700 swimmers across India took part in the event. Right from the start, participants were attacked by jellyfish bites continuously throughout 3.5kms. About 30 per cent of the participants quit because of fear and pain. Completing the swimming within the jellyfish mines was just pushing one’s limits which led to the combination of positive and brave experience.
Dhote and Jaiswal thanked coaches Sanjay Batwe, Vishal Chandurkar, Dr Neena Sahu leading physiotherapist, Orange City Runners, Dr Amit Samarth, friends and family members.
