Reacting over the Union Budget 2023-24 presented by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the Parliament on Wednesday, Chhattisgarh Pradesh Congress Committee (CPCC) President Mohan Markam said that no provision has been made to check rising inflation in the Budget. Markam said that the BJP had promised to generate two crore employment every year. But in the Budget, the BJP Government at the Centre has not given any road map for employment generation. Neither there is a provision of legal guarantee of Minimum Support Price (MSP) to the farmers of the country nor 50 percent benefit on the C-2 formula based on the recommendation of the Swaminathan Committee.
There is no mention about Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS), an important scheme that provides employment in rural areas, Subsidy on fertilizer and food has not been announced. The BJP Government at the Centre neither showed the roadmap of the manifesto of 2014 nor made any provisions on the promises of 2019. Youths were promised 2 crore jobs every year and 18 crore jobs were to be provided in 9 years. Now only 47 lakh youths are being tricked into giving allowance for 3 years, he added.
Markam said that the Union Budget is a budget of great disappointment for the general public. The need and expectations were like an ocean but there was not even a drop of relief in the Budget, he added.
