VIDARBHA’S campaign in the Senior Women’s One-Day Trophy ended with a loss to Rajasthan. In the pre-quarter-finals, Vidarbha batters disappointed during the chase to go down by 39 runs at the MECON Stadium in Ranchi on Wednesday.
After they let Rajasthan score 197-8 in allotted 50 overs, Vidarbha were shot out for 158 in 46.2 overs. With Vidarbha recording two nine-wicket wins, one eight and one six wickets victories while chasing in the league stage, the middle and lower order was not much exposed. When they got a chance to prove their worth in PQF, they failed collectively.
During the chase, Vidarbha had lost top three batters by 10.4 overs. Openers Shivani Dharne (12), Vaishnavi Khandkar (4) and skipper Disha Kasat (5) were back in the hut.
Stumper Latika Inamdar (35; 82b, 2x4) and Bharti Fulmali (19; 36b, 3x4) added 33 runs for the fourth wicket. Two quick wickets, that of Bharti and Ankita Bhongade (0), did not help Vidarbha’s cause. Kanchan Nagwani (43; 61, 5x4) played some positive cricket and in company of Latika took the score form 64-5 to 130. In the last ten overs, they needed 68 more runs but the last five wickets could score just 28 runs.
Earlier, BN Meena (59; 94b, 5x4) and Jasia Akhter (32; 21b, 5x4, 1x6) helped Rajasthan reach a competitive score.
