Victim Rahul Chauhan told police that one Durgesh Jharia and Anupam befriended him on Facebook. After gaining his confidence, they informed him about the trading scheme and WMT App and assured him profit on all six days in a week. They then sent a link on WhatsApp cellphone and registered him. He was asked to make a recharge of Rs 500 from PhonePe.
The WhatsApp groups created by the scammers had about 5,000-6,000 members. To gain the trust of the members, the cyber crooks then shifted the so-called trading on Telegram Channel. Finally, the fraudsters closed the withdrawal system from the WMT App from March 13 and duped several investors.
